Draft Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution System Standards
The Law Council of Australia welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to the Mediator Standards Board (MSB) on the draft Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution System (AMDRAS) Standards.
While the Law Council is not a Recognised Mediator Accreditation Body under the National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS), several of its Constituent Bodies are:1
- Bar Association of Queensland;
- Law Society of New South Wales;
- Law Society of South Australia;
- Law Society of Western Australia;
- New South Wales Bar Association;
- Queensland Law Society; and
- Victorian Bar Incorporated.
This submission is informed by input from the Law Council’s Federal Dispute Resolution Section’s (FDRS) Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (ADR Committee), in addition to several of the Law Council’s Constituent Bodies – the Law Society of New South Wales, the New South Wales Bar Association (NSW Bar) and the Queensland Law Society.
The Law Council understands that the Law Society of South Australia has provided a submission directly to the MSB.
