The Young Federal Litigation Lawyer of the Year Award

The Young Federal Litigation Lawyer of the Year award is given to a young lawyer who has made an outstanding contribution in the field of federal litigation and dispute resolution. Each recipient of the award is recognised for their contribution to the practice of federal litigation and dispute resolution and, where relevant, their contribution to the legal and wider community.

The award is given annually by the Federal Dispute Resolution Section of the Law Council of Australia. 

2026 Round – Call for nominations 

Nominations for the 2026 Young Federal Litigation Lawyer of the Year Award are now open and close at 5:00 pm AEST Friday, 23 January 2026. For more information about the eligibility criteria and nominations, please refer to the flyer. Please email your nominations to, chelsea.desilva@lawcouncil.au.  

Nomination Process

The Federal Dispute Resolution Section Executive will review all applications. If the Executive cannot agree on a winner, the final decision shall be made by the Section Chair.

Presentation of Award

The winner of the award will be announced and presented at the 2026 Commonwealth Law Conference in Sydney on Friday, 27 February 2026.

The winner of the award will receive:

2025 Winner – Jade Andrews

Jade Andrews is an associate at Thomson Geer's IPTR team, based in Brisbane. Jade practices in all areas of intellectual property law including advisory, transactional and contentious matters, with a particular interest in the life sciences.

Jade has two peer reviewed journal articles published in the Journal of Law and Medicine, Biologics, Patents and Regulatory Exclusivities: Incentivising the Development of Future Pharmaceuticals and Maintaining Privacy in Artificial Intelligence-driven Bioinformatics: An Inquiry into the Suitability of Australia's Laws. She also has an article published in the Intellectual Property Forum titled, The Digital Age and a Copy Right.
